DocDocDoc
Use Google Docs with multiple pages side by side
Connect your Google account, load any Google Doc, and edit in a wider multi-page workspace built for long-form writing, revision, and review.
01
Finally, a side-by-side layout!
With DocDocDoc, you can finally use your full screen and keep neighboring sections visible without endless scrolling. The editor is optimized for wide screens and long-form writing.
02
Your document stays on your computer
Your privacy comes first. DocDocDoc runs fully in your browser with no document-storage backend on our side. It talks directly to Google's servers over a fully encrypted connection, so your data stays between you and Google, always and completely.
03
Native automatic dark mode
Say goodbye to blindingly bright pages during late-night writing and reviewing sessions. DocDocDoc respects your system theme out-of-the-box and automatically toggles a carefully crafted dark mode for both the interface and the document itself to minimize eye strain. Oh, and it's completely free.
04
Write math with LaTeX syntax
Seamlessly construct complex mathematical equations using standard LaTeX syntax. Utilize $...$ for inline equations and $$...$$ for beautiful display math blocks. Equations are synchronized as plain text directly back to your Google Doc, but instantly rendered as rich formatting within DocDocDoc.
How it works
Step 1
Connect Google OAuth
Sign into your Google account so DocDocDoc can display and sync your document through official Google APIs. We keep scope usage explicit and documented below.

Step 2
Grant permissions
drive.filePer-file Drive access for safe copies, image uploads, picker-opened docs, and comment checks.documentsLoad, edit, and save Google Docs content.

Step 3
Load any Google Doc
Paste a Google Docs URL/document ID or pick a file through Google Picker, then open it in the side-by-side editor. No extra sharing setup is required when you already have access in your Google account.

Step 4
Edit side by side
Most basic Google Docs features are currently supported, and we're working on including all of them + extra ones that Google Docs does not have! If you're using elements or formatting that is not supported, we can create a copy of your original document without the unsupported features.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does DocDocDoc replace Google Docs?
Not at all. DocDocDoc acts as an enhanced, multi-page editor layer built directly on top of Google Docs. Every change you make is seamlessly synchronized back to your original Google Docs document.
Is my document data stored on your servers?
No. DocDocDoc is an entirely client-based application. There is no backend server involved in reading or writing your documents. All API communication happens strictly between your local browser and Google's servers, meaning your document data is never sent to us. It is as privacy-friendly as it gets.
Why does DocDocDoc request Google Drive permissions?
DocDocDoc currently requests exactly these scopes:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/documentsUsed to load, edit, and save document content through the Google Docs API.https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.fileUsed for per-file Drive access (safe-copy docs, image uploads, Google Picker document selection, and comment compatibility checks).
DocDocDoc uses per-file Drive access via drive.file instead of broad Drive read scopes.
Can I pick a Google Doc directly inside DocDocDoc?
Yes. You can either paste a URL/document ID or open Google Picker directly from the editor. Picker access stays per-file with drive.file.
Can I open any Google Doc?
Yes, as long as the Google account you have signed in with has the necessary view or edit permissions for that specific document. You can easily switch accounts if needed.
Who is this best for?
DocDocDoc is tailored for writers, researchers, students, and editors who work on long-form content. If you use a wide-screen monitor and find yourself constantly scrolling up and down in Google Docs to reference previous paragraphs, the side-by-side layout will drastically improve your workflow.
Is DocDocDoc really free to use?
Yes! Because the core application runs entirely within your browser and uses your direct connection to Google's API, our server costs are essentially zero. This allows us to provide the tool completely free of charge.
Is collaboration instant like in standard Google Docs?
DocDocDoc synchronizes your edits with Google Docs every few seconds. Because it relies on the Google Docs API rather than Google's internal proprietary collaboration engine, changes are not millisecond-instant. While you can certainly use it to collaborate with others, keep in mind there is a slight synchronization delay.
What are the current limitations?
DocDocDoc does not provide true real-time multi-user collaboration yet, so edits can appear with a short sync delay through the Google Docs API. Very large documents can render more slowly, especially if they contain many heavy objects.
Which features are supported, and what happens with unsupported ones?
DocDocDoc currently round-trips core editing features both ways: paragraphs, rich text marks (bold/italic/underline/strikethrough), links, text alignment, indentation, bulleted and numbered lists, headings 1-6, highlight, superscript/subscript, inline images, tables, manual page breaks, and horizontal rules.
If unsupported objects are detected, direct editing of the original Google Doc is blocked to prevent destructive overwrites. You can still flatten the document into a new Google Doc copy and continue editing there. The original source document remains unchanged.
